Jan Zilinsky
Jan Zilinsky was a research analyst at the Peterson Institute for International Economics from October 2014 to August 2016. He worked with Senior Fellow Justin Wolfers on economic inequality and related policy issues and with Senior Fellow Paolo Mauro on euro area recovery and the impact of fiscal policy on growth.
At the outset of the financial crisis in 2007, he worked for Kenneth Rogoff, coauthor of This Time Is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly. After receiving his BA in economics from Harvard University, Zilinsky was a research affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Later, he earned his MBA at the University of Chicago. Prior to joining the institute, he designed and taught a course on experimental economics at Harvard and worked as a university lecturer in South Korea.
Zilinsky also worked in the research department at the National Bank of Slovakia and interned in the office of former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. His research connects behavioral economics with consumer finance, financial literacy, and regulation of financial products.
