The Peterson Institute and the China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) cosponsored a China-US Economists Symposium held April 27–28, 2012, in Beijing. The CF40 was founded on April 12, 2008 in Beijing, dedicating itself to society through financial academics, as a nongovernmental and nonprofit financial think tank. Topics discussed included the global economic outlook, exchange rates and rebalancing, policymaking in the United States and China, the role of the dollar and the renminbi, monetary policy, financial regulation, and the international leadership roles of the two countries. Many senior representatives of the Chinese business, policy, and government community attended, including Zhou Xiaochuan, Governor of the People's Bank of China and a member of the CF40 Advisory Committee; Chen Yuan, Chairman of CF40 and member of the PIIE Board of Directors; Huang Yiping, Beijing University; Yu Yongding, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Ma Jun, Deutsche Bank; and Long Guoqiang, Development Research Center of the State Council.
