Event Summary

The Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) held a major conference on “Sino-US Economic and Trade Relations in the Global Economy” on September 17, 2018. The Honorable Jacob J. Lew, former secretary of the US Treasury and partner at Lindsay Goldberg, delivered the keynote address. Four substantive panel discussions followed on the impact of trade conflicts between the United States and China; the risks and realities of a technological race and cooperation between China and the United States, including a discussion on Made in China 2025; reform of the World Trade Organization; and how to rebuild China-US strategic trust.
