Policy in the time of coronavirus

The immediate need in the fight against the coronavirus is for health, not economic, policy. In the short term, governments need to calmly reassure people that economic policy will reinvigorate the world economy. Countries affected by the virus have adopted different approaches reflecting their cultures and political systems. But such differences do not explain the inconsistent behavior in the United States and some other countries.
