Adam S. Posen on the price of America’s economic retreat

In an interview on Bloomberg’s Balance of Power, PIIE president Adam S. Posen discusses his article in Foreign Affairs. Two decades of American withdrawal from global trade, investment, and immigration have privileged the few in declining manufacturing jobs while neglecting most low-income Americans, thus exacerbating injustice. Posen makes the case that expanding the policy focus from manufacturing jobs as a driver of growth to opening the United States further to international competition, higher standards, and universal benefits is needed for pro-worker reform.
