Next STEP Global Conference: Where leaders meet to advance Solutions To Economic Problems (STEP)

WASHINGTON  -- The Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) at the National University of Singapore will launch the Next STEP Global Conference on November 1-2 to advance Solutions To Economic Problems (STEP).

The inaugural conference is the first in a series of annual global dialogues where leaders meet to address challenges to human well-being arising from economic instability, insecurity, and exclusion. The sessions are aimed at producing solutions that can be adopted by national governments and international institutions.

US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo will deliver keynote remarks on supply chain challenges, followed by a virtual discussion with Singapore Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam on November 1 at 8:45 AM EDT / 8:45 PM SGT.

In addition to the discussion with Raimondo and Shanmugaratnam, the conference will focus on:

  • Supply chains in a world of conflict and COVID-19 (session 1)
  • Economic policymaking in a Big Data, Big Tech global economy (session 2)
  • Is it possible for humanity to cooperate in delivering global public goods? (closing dialogue with Martin Wolf of The Financial Times)
