Event Summary

The Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) hosted the opening dinner session of the annual summit conference of leaders of policy research institutions (think tanks) in North America. The conference takes place March 27-28 at various venues around Washington, DC, with panel discussions and presentations by experts focused on the common problems facing think tanks in the world today.

Adam S. Posen, president of PIIE, and James G. McGann, director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program and senior lecturer of international studies at the Lauder Institute, provided welcoming remarks, followed by a panel discussion with journalists. Peter Orszag, vice chairman of investment banking and managing director at Lazard Freres & Co. and former director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Congressional Budget Office, delivered the keynote address.

The event was sponsored by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, Lauder Institute, and the University of Pennsylvania.
