Event Summary
The Peterson Institute held its semiannual Global Economic Prospects session on April 1, 2013. David J. Stockton, PIIE senior fellow and senior adviser at Macroeconomic Advisers LLC, presented the US outlook. Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, a recognized euro crisis expert, assessed whether recent developments in Cyprus and Italy will undermine stability in Europe. Barbara Kotschwar, the Institute's research fellow on Latin American political economy, spoke about whether the region's policies will return to more market- and US-friendly paths, given recent developments in Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela.
