The Peterson Institute for International Economics is pleased to host a high-level panel discussion on the future economic architecture of the eurozone, featuring Spanish finance minister Carlos Cuerpo Caballero and ECB Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel, alongside leading experts Olivier Blanchard of PIIE and Ángel Ubide of Citadel.

Following opening remarks by Cuerpo Caballero, the conversation explores how much monetary policy transmission and financial stability in the eurozone depend on deeper integration, the opportunities and challenges posed by rising long-term commitments to defense spending and expanded industrial policy, and the implications for the ECB and the broader eurozone framework of proposals for Eurobonds or alternative fiscal instruments.  PIIE president Adam S.
