Richard N. Cooper Memorial Lecture Series

The Richard N. Cooper Memorial Lecture Series was established at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) by Jin C. Cooper in 2023 in honor of her late husband, a renowned economist, pathbreaking researcher, distinguished public servant, and longtime board member, adviser, and friend of the Institute and the many colleagues here who worked with him. Dick Cooper, as he was widely known, left a lasting legacy in the field of economics while enriching the lives of his many students, colleagues, and friends. The Institute is honored to celebrate his work with this annual lecture series.

During the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings in Washington, the Peterson Institute for International Economics convened central bankers, finance officials, and more from around the world for a series of speeches and onstage discussions on macroeconomic issues hosted by PIIE president Adam S. Next STEP Global Conference

The annual Next STEP (Solutions to Economic Problems) Global Conference was launched in 2021 by the Peterson Institute for International Economics and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. This series of global dialogues invited leaders to address challenges to human well-being posed by economic instability, insecurity, and exclusion.

O. John Olcay Lectures on Ethics and Economics

The annual O. John Olcay Lecture on Ethics and Economics was held annually in memory of John Olcay, a longtime friend and intellectual supporter of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, particularly of the Institute's work on monetary and financial policy.

Rebuilding the Global Economy

Rebuilding the Global Economy was a series that laid out for policymakers heading into 2021 what needed to be repaired by defining critical and practical priorities, and offering credible solutions.

Stavros Niarchos Foundation Lectures

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Lecture was presented at the Institute between 2001 and 2019 by such noted economists turned global policymakers as Agustín Carstens, Alan Greenspan, Mervyn King, Mario Monti, Lawrence Summers, Jean-Claude Trichet, Long Yongtu, and Ernesto Zedillo. This annual event was made possible by the generous support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The Way Forward

The Way Forward was an initiative hosted by The Atlantic in collaboration with the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Chatham House, and the Emerson Collective in 2020.

Whitman Lectures

The Whitman Lecture series was created in 2001 by Robert and Marina von Neumann Whitman and was held through 2015.
