Tony Kornheiser is a former sportswriter for the Washington Post where he wrote finely crafted (and very, very funny) columns. After a less-than-fully-successful stint as a color commentator on Monday Night Football (Kornheiser, the structure of a football broadcast, and the self-importance of the NFL just didn’t mesh), he abandoned the written word, instead now spends his time spewing opinion on a locally broadcast radio show. (Available on podcast, but expect delays). Sort of like me slumming it on this blog instead of writing scholarly papers. Except much better paid. At least for the PTI gig on ESPN, I presume.
Anyhow, you can imagine my astonishment when provoked by a news item read by his producer "Nigel" (whose English accept sounds suspiciously like Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins if you catch my drift), Mr. Tony started riffing on North Korea, "the most innovative country on earth." Have a listen:
