Fans of No Reservations star, Anthony Bourdaine, may also know of his spinoff show The Layover.  On this show, Anthony gives viewers insight on how to take advantage of short layovers in beautiful cities.  Well, a short glance at the KCNA life section suggests the North Koreans may be auditioning for a spot on the show.  Assuming Bourdaine doesn't have any layovers in Pyongyang scheduled, we thought we'd give it a shot.

North Korean Weekend Layover Itinerary

Friday Evening - A night at the opera  seeing "The Flower Girl" in Pyongyang

After a long flight into Pyongyang, take in a show at the Pyongyang Grand Theater where they're currently performing "The Flower Girl."  The show's synopsis provided in the Playbill is "Through the destiny of a poor family, the opera shows the truth of revolution and class struggle that tears and sympathy can not save the destiny of nation as well as that of one's family and oneself, and that struggle against the class enemy is the only way out."  Sounds like a good time!

Saturday Morning - A trip to the Rungna islet in Pyongyang for a show at the Rungna Dolphinarium

Come enjoy a show by some of the ocean's smartest animals as dolphins and their trainers put on a high flying show that is surely won't disappoint.

Saturday Afternoon - Beat the Heat at the Rungna People's Pleasure Park

Beat Pyongyang's notoriously hot August weather and soak up the sun at the People's Pleasure Park.  The water park is complete with slides, diving boards, and a humongous pool with room for all of Pyongyang's elite.

Saturday Evening - The fun doesn't stop at the Rungna Funfair

Finish off your long day in Rungna riding the rides at the Rungna Funfair.  The park is loaded with rides and you're sure to find yourself some funnel cake and a corn dog.

Sunday Morning and Afternoon - Day trip to the Majon recreation ground, bathing resort in Hamhung City.

Only a few hours from Pyongyang is the Majon beach resort in Hamhung City,  A luxurious hotel and spa with direct access to sandy beaches.  Rest yoour tired legs from yesterday and even take in a round of bowling at the resort.  Don't worry about overcrowded beaches as judging from the image above, there is plenty of room.

Friday Evening - Back to Pyongyang to catch the red eye.
