TRAPPED IN NORTH KOREA'S GULAG THE STORY OF OH KIL-NAM AND HIS FAMILY
The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK), the International Coalition to Stop Crimes against Humanity in North Korea (ICNK) and The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation invite you to attend an event featuring Dr. Oh Kil-nam, who will share with the audience the tragic story of his quarter century’s separation from his wife and two daughters, held hostage in North Korea since 1986.
The event will also feature remarks by: Gordon Flake, Executive Director, The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, and member of the Board of Directors, Committee for Human Rights in North Korea; Roberta Cohen, Co-chair of the Board of Directors, Committee for Human Rights in North Korea and Non-resident Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution; and Greg Scarlatoiu, Executive Director, Committee for Human Rights in North Korea.
The event will take place at the conference facility of The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, located at 1401 New York Avenue, NW, Suite 740, Washington, D.C. 20005-2101, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
Please find the program flyer and brief description of the story of Dr. Oh and his family attached to this message.
We hope you will be available to join us and hear this story from Dr. Oh himself. South Korean NGOs are currently undertaking a campaign to rescue Dr. Oh's wife and two daughters from the North Korean gulag. This campaign is collecting signatures from South Koreans and citizens of other countries to elicit the support of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to bring Dr. Oh's family to their home in South Korea.
