Tomohiro Sugo
Tomohiro Sugo was a visiting fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics during January–June 2015. Prior to joining the Institute, Sugo worked at the Bank of Japan as a senior economist in the monetary affairs department and the research and statistics department. He was engaged in policymaking and policy-related research.
His research focuses on monetary policy and monetary economics. He is coauthor of two papers "The Optimal Monetary Policy Rule under the Non-negativity Constraint on Nominal Interest Rates" and "Eliminating a Deflationary Trap through Superinertial Interest Rate Rules" published in Economics Letters. He also studies Japan's economy and is coauthor of "Estimating a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Model for Japan" published in the Journal of the Japanese and International Economies. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Tokyo and a master's degree in economics from the University of Rochester.
