Egor Gornostay
Egor Gornostay joined the Peterson Institute for International Economics as a research analyst in September 2015 and was a research fellow from October 2020 to September 2024. His research leverages new computational techniques (from machine learning, textual analysis) and new sources of data for analyzing monetary and fiscal policy. Previously he served as the Institute's research statistician and quality control coordinator and played a central role in ensuring rigorous standards of data replicability. PIIE research analysts and senior fellows regular seek his guidance on statistical and programming issues while they are conducting their research.
His prior work experience includes a summer internship at KPMG in New York, where he worked in the Office of the Chief Economist and conducted quantitative and qualitative analysis on current economic and policy developments. He received a master's degree in economics from New York University in May 2015, where he completed all the necessary course work for the PhD program. There he focused on macroeconomics and financial economics. He earned another master's degree in economics from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2011. He is a native speaker of Russian.
