Event Summary

Andreas Dombret, member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, discussed options for resolving the European sovereign debt crisis and explained the logic of the approach taken to date.

Dombret has been at the center of global and transatlantic financial regulatory discussions, as well as Germany's response to the euro crisis. Before joining the Bundesbank in 2010, he was Bank of America's vice chairman for Europe and head for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and the co-head of Rothschild Germany.  Between 1992 and 2002, he worked at JP Morgan in Frankfurt and London, from 1999 onwards as managing director. Dombret is a member of several boards of trustees, including of the Center for Financial Studies in Frankfurt and of the Austrian Society for Bank Research in Vienna. He is also a member of the board of the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies and the Exchange Experts Commission. Dombret holds a PhD in business management from Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg.
