Event Summary
The Johns Hopkins SAIS South Asia program hosted a discussion on Arvind Subramanian's recent book, Of Counsel: The Challenges of the Modi-Jaitley Economy. Subramanian, who rejoined PIIE in August 2018 as nonresident senior fellow after serving as chief economic adviser to the government of India since October 2014, discussed his book with Ed Luce, chief US commentator for the Financial Times and its former India bureau chief and author of In Spite of the Gods: The Rise of Modern India. Subramanian's part-memoir, part-analytical book candidly reveals the numerous triumphs and challenges of policymaking in India, while appraising the country’s economic potential, health, and future through comprehensive research and original hypothesis.
