Michael A. McFaul, US Ambassador to Russia, spoke on the topic "Russia after the Presidential Election: What It Means for the United States" at the Peterson Institute on March 12, 2012.

Ambassador McFaul arrived at his current posting in January. Until then, he served as senior director for Russia and Eurasia at the National Security Council and special assistant to the President from January 2009. Dr. McFaul is on leave from Stanford University where he holds a chair in political science. He has also been a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is one of the foremost specialists on Russia, having written and edited a large number of books on that country.
