Pierre Moscovici, the new European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, will speak on "A Page Turned: Working for Investment and Growth in the New European Union" at the Peterson Institute for International Economics on December 19, 2014.

Before becoming the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, Commissioner Moscovici served as France's minister of finance. He was a member of the French National Assembly from 2007 to 2012 and again in 2014. He also has served twice in the European Parliament, as a member from 1994 to 1997 and then as its vice president from 2004 to 2007. From 1997 to 2002 he was France's minister for European affairs. He has also served as a member of the French Court of Audit on two occasions and held numerous positions in French local government. This will be Commissioner Moscovici's maiden speech in the United States in his new role.
