Event Summary
The Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) released the new Policy Brief, “A New Policy Toolkit Is Needed as Countries Exit COVID-19 Lockdowns,” by Olivier Blanchard of PIIE, Thomas Philippon of New York University, and Jean Pisani-Ferry of Bruegel and PIIE on Monday, June 8, 2020. As governments exit their COVID-19 lockdown regimes, they must design adjustment measures that limit the pain. Blanchard and Pisani-Ferry presented recommendations on how such measures could be designed.
Olivier Blanchard joined PIIE as the first C. Fred Bergsten Senior Fellow in October 2015. He was previously the economic counselor and director of the research department at the International Monetary Fund. He remains the Robert M. Solow Professor of Economics emeritus at MIT.
Jean Pisani-Ferry is a nonresident senior fellow at PIIE. He holds the Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa chair of the European University Institute in Florence and is a senior fellow at Bruegel.
