Giovanni Tria, minister of economy and finance of Italy, delivered a speech on the Italian and European economic outlook and policy changes on January 29, 2019, at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE).
Giovanni Tria has been Italy’s minister of economy and finance since May 2018. He taught at Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Perugia, and is currently professor of political economics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where he has been dean of the economics faculty since 2017. He served previously as a senior advisor in various Italian government ministries (economics and finance, foreign affairs, labor, and public administration). During 2002–06 and 2009–12 he served as member of the board of directors of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
