David R. Malpass discussed “Good Outcomes through Growth: Paths to Development Success,” his first Washington speech in his role as president of the World Bank Group, on September 17, 2019 at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
Malpass was selected as thirteenth president of the World Bank Group by its board of executive directors in April 2019. He previously served as undersecretary of the Treasury for international affairs. Before joining Treasury, he was an international economist and founder of a macroeconomics research firm based in New York City and served as chief economist of Bear Stearns. Previously, he served as the US deputy assistant secretary of Treasury for developing nations and deputy assistant secretary of State for Latin American economic affairs.
