Event Summary
Karen Dynan, Chad P. Bown, and Steven Fries presented PIIE's semiannual Global Economic Prospects.
Dynan discussed the US and global outlook, with a focus on inflation and the implications for monetary policy. Bown presented an update on global supply chains, which have gone through many stresses: the US-China trade and tech war, the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the evolving economic sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. Fries spoke on energy markets: their impact on global economic prospects, their conditions just before Russia's invasion of Ukraine and dislocation amid the war, and the war's likely enduring impacts on them.
PIIE president Adam S. Posen moderated the Q&A and discussion with the audience.
