Event Summary

As the Biden administration takes office, most countries are looking forward to the restoration of multilateralism and American trade leadership. But US trade policy will not simply return to a business-as-usual (pre-Trump) status. How can other countries help the United States to support, strengthen, and improve a multilateral trading system that works for all? What roadmap will pragmatically reinvigorate global trade cooperation? The TACIT project’s paper "Getting America Back in the Game: A Multilateral Perspective" examines these questions and more. Three coauthors joined this episode of Trade Winds to present the paper:

Host:

Anabel González, Nonresident Senior Fellow, PIIE

Guests:

  • Richard Baldwin, Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute (Geneva), ex-President of CEPR, and Founder of VoxEU.org
  • Chad P. Bown, Reginald Jones Senior Fellow, PIIE
