Caroline Atkinson, Deputy Assistant to President Obama and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics, delivered the speech "The G-20 and the Global Economy" at the Peterson Institute on November 4, 2015.
Atkinson serves as the president's personal representative to major international economic summits, including the G-20, and was appointed to her current roles in June 2013. Prior to that, she had served as Special Assistant to the President for International Economic Affairs since August 2011. Before joining the Obama administration, Atkinson was a senior executive in the International Monetary Fund. She has also served as Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Monetary and Financial Policy in the US Treasury Department (1997–2001), as a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, as a senior director at Stonebridge International, and as a head of the Division on Regulatory Policy at the Bank of England.
