Event Summary

The Peterson Institute released its new study Banking on Basel: The Future of International Financial Regulation by Daniel K. Tarullo on October 23, 2008. The current financial crisis demonstrates that future financial regulation must be more extensive and internationalized. Tarullo's central question is whether financial institutions would have been sounder if the Basel II Framework had already been implemented and/or whether the crisis has revealed a need for further strategies for capital regulation.
