Commissioner Moscovici addressed whether divergent views in Europe can be reconciled to deliver a meaningful reform of the economic and monetary union, the prospects for responsible fiscal policies and structural reforms in the coming year, and how modernization of corporate taxation can advance in the current transatlantic climate.

Prior to taking his current position in 2014, Commissioner Moscovici had served as France's minister of finance since 2012. He was a member of the French National Assembly from 2007 to 2012 and again in 2014. He also has served twice in the European Parliament, as a member from 1994 to 1997 and as its vice-president during 2004–07. From 1997 to 2002 he was France's minister for European affairs.
