Event Summary

Zhu Min, former deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund and PIIE board member, discussed "China: Economic Growth and Opening Up" at an event organized by PIIE and China's Caixin Global on April 10, 2019. The discussion continued with C. Fred Bergsten, PIIE director emeritus and founding director, sharing his analysis on the status of China's economic reforms and offering his projections for their future trajectory; and with Martin Chorzempa, PIIE research fellow, examining the Chinese model of developing fintech and whether the United States and other countries should try to follow it.

PIIE and Caixin Global also organized a separate discussion held the same day, World Bank Transition: What Could Be Done?, with former World Bank president Robert Zoellick.
