Event Summary

Arvind Subramanian, chief economic advisor to the government of India, discussed the economic outlook for India and the Modi government's reform agenda on March 9, 2015. The event was cohosted by the Peterson Institute and the US-India Business Council.

Subramanian was appointed to his current position in October 2014. He is on leave from his position at the Institute as the Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow. He has also served as senior fellow at the Center for Global Development. Previously, he was assistant director in the research department of the International Monetary Fund, and served at the GATT during the Uruguay Round. He is author of numerous widely-cited academic studies in trade and growth as well as of the award-winning book, Eclipse: Living in the Shadow of China's Economic Dominance, which the Institute published in 2011.
