Event Summary
Anoop Singh, director of the Asia and Pacific Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), presented the Asia-Pacific Regional Economic Outlook at the Peterson Institute on May 12, 2011. The Regional Economic Outlook (REO) is one of the premier annual publications of the Fund, providing an overview of the economic growth and policy challenges facing the region, along with recommendations to address those problems. The new REO focuses on rebalancing Asian economies and their regional integration initiatives.
Anoop Singh has been director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the IMF since November 2008. He was previously director of the Western Hemisphere Department, director of Special Operations at the Office of the Managing Director, senior advisor for the Policy Development and Review Department, and assistant director of the European Department. He has also been a special advisor to Governors I.G. Patel and Manmohan Singh of the Reserve Bank of India and a senior economic advisor to the vice president for Asia at the World Bank. Mr. Singh is a national of India and studied at the University of Bombay, Cambridge University, and the London School of Economics.
