Event Summary

The United Kingdom just concluded trade deals in May with India, the United States, and the European Union. It was thus the first country to make a deal with the Trump administration. The UK also recently joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Since the country finalized Brexit and left the EU in 2022, it has taken steps to enhance security cooperation, facilitate trade in agricultural products, facilitate youth and student mobility, and engage in high-level summits with the EU on a regular basis. But how much substance is there in the recent deals, and how will the UK navigate trade wars and a broken world order? Does it have a coherent strategy?
