Event Summary
Russia's brutal war in Ukraine is in its fourth year with a huge cost to civilians. President Donald Trump has hosted several high-level meetings recently with the aim of finding an end to the war. What shall we make of these efforts? How can Ukraine's security be insured?
After the Russian invasion in February 2022, there was hope and belief that the massive set of sanctions would severely erode Russia's economy and its ability to pursue the war. But the country's economy proved to be remarkably resilient. How can this be explained, and what could have been done differently?
Now we see clear signs of economic recession in Russia; what effect will this have on the war? How can Ukraine's allies continue supporting the country while also preparing for a post-war situation, meaningful reconstruction, and future EU membership?
