Ye of little faith. What started out as a pie in the sky – some would venture to say awesomely ridiculous – Kickstarter campaign has become reality for D.C. rappers Pacman and Peso. WaPo reported Wednesday that the duo has to date raised over $10,000 and are ready to jet set to Pyongyang (and China) for their epic rap video shoot.
The crew is slated to leave in mid-November and return early December. The original concept was to shoot the MV in a Karaoke party bus in Pyongyang, in addition to taking a pretty lavish specialty tour. Curiously, one of the trip promoters now says that Pacman and Peso will spend most of their time in China. The original pitched itinerary is precisely the other way around, with only three days planned in Beijing (cited as the backup filming location). Perhaps we shouldn't read too much into this, but I had a feeling successfully shooting the video in North Korea would be harder than Forest Hills Tenleytown Music Group made it sound. However, I would love to be proven wrong.
We’ll have more when Pacman and Peso get back to the states, presumably with the greatest (and only) rap MV ever shot in the Hermit Kingdom. Godspeed, gentlemen.
