By now anyone who reads this blog is probably already aware of the last North Korean outburst, this one describing President Obama as “a crossbreed with unclear blood” who “does not even have the basic appearances of a human being…[He] still has the figure of a monkey while the human race has evolved through millions of years.” And just to give themselves a bit of plausible deniability, KCNA conjured up some man-on-the-street to whom it could attribute this last gem: “It would be perfect for Obama to live with a group of monkeys in the world’s largest African natural zoo and lick the breadcrumbs thrown by spectators.” Sweet.
“Serious” people here in Washington may be tempted to tut-tut this as regrettable political theatre aimed at an internal audience but it would be wrong to dismiss it as nothing more than that: the North Korean regime is obsessed with race and sex and it is reflective in their policies. Kudos to Josh Stanton for first uncovering this crap.
Anyone who has any questions about how seriously the regime takes its racial superiority myth and doesn’t want to read 200 pages of The Cleanest Race should just take a quick look at the hate-filled filth KCNA spewed at the time of Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward’s visit to South Korea (for example “Rodong Sinmun Censures Theory of "Multiracial Society”), reminiscent of the Nürnberg rallies, or remind themselves of the North Korean practice, now technically illegal, of performing infanticide or forced abortions on pregnant North Korean women repatriated from China and suspected of carrying binational children. And note: the reference to the Nazis is neither unintentional or taken lightly—while I do not attribute to the North Koreans the global ambitions of Nazi Germany, I do think that ideologically the Kim regime is the closest thing we have today to the Third Reich.
