Josh Stanton on AP

When Bubba Watson hit that titanic through-the-trees-hook-onto-the-green shot on the 10th during the Master’s playoff, Louis Oosthuizen must have known it was just not his day.

We have taken our gentle shots at AP in a number of posts, most recently riffing off Isaac Stone Fish’s piece for FP.com and the problematic photo exhibit AP is sponsoring with KCNA in New York.  But we know when we’re beaten, so it’s time to give it up to Bubba:

Josh Stanton’s One Free Korea has set up an extraordinary AP Watch section of his site (thanks to Dan Pinkston for the head's up) to document some of the trouble the press can get into when dealing with authoritarian regimes. The truly disturbing thing about what Josh is documenting is not just the punches that AP is pulling, but how other news organizations such as the New York Times appear to be acting as enablers.  And if the information on the site is accurate, the rot seems to have spread to the Human Rights Watch board as well….

Apart from the gossip, however, further down on the AP watch site, there is absolutely gruesome BBC footage showing a frozen body in the river. Don't expect AP Pyongyang to cover that.
