We are always pleased when members of the North Korea community break out and achieve wider recognition. Charles Armstrong of Columbia University recently won the 2014 John K. Fairbank Prize in East Asian History ) for his book, Tyranny of the Weak: North Korea and the World, 1950-1992. His book is the fourth book on Korea to receive the prize (you can view the full list of winners since 1969 here) and the first to be awarded to a work specifically on North Korea.
