Event Summary
Dr. José Viñals, financial counsellor of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and director of its Monetary and Capital Markets Department, will discuss "Global Financial Outlook: Challenges for Banks and Risks from Shadow Banks" at the Peterson Institute on November 6, 2014.
José Viñals has served in his dual leadership roles at the International Monetary Fund since 2009. In that capacity, he is a member of the Financial Stability Board, representing the IMF. Previously, he served as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Spain from 2006–09, when he was the chairman of the European Central Bank International Relations Committee, as well as chairman of Spain's Deposit Guarantee Funds. He has also been a member of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Committee, European Union Economic and Financial Committee, and a board member of the Spanish Securities Authority.
