Sometimes propaganda and art blend together in a way that leaves the viewer unable to separate the two forces or discern which is which. Such is the case with the annual Arirang Games in North Korea, the epic gymnastics and synchronized art display that involves as many as 100,000 active participants. This year's Arirang Games are tentatively scheduled to be held between the 27th of  July and the 9th of September.  This will be the second games under the helm of Kim Jong-un following the death of his father. Last year, British photographer Jeremy Hunter was able to attend the games and had a great view of the action.

While professional photography equipment was not allowed, Hunter was able to make what little he had go a long way.  This month (January 16 - February 16) at the Atlas Gallery in London, Hunter will be displaying a series of images taken at the event.  The images are quite fascinating especially for anyone who hasn't seen images of the Arirang games before.  In addition to the image above, a few images from the show are displayed below.  To see additional images, head to the Atlas Gallery page as well as the following articles by The Economist and Huffington Post.
