Michele Heller

Michele Heller, director of strategic communications and media relations, joined the Peterson Institute for International Economics in December 2018.

She comes to the Institute from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), where she spent eight years as the senior communications advisor involved in strategic messaging, media relations, and speech and op-ed development for several members of the FDIC Board.

A journalist by trade and training, Ms. Heller has held various editing and reporting positions in Washington, Beijing, and Hong Kong including at the Washington Post, McClatchy Newspapers, American Banker newspaper, and the Hong Kong Standard. She has covered news from the Hong Kong Handover in 1997 to the 2008 financial crisis and its aftermath, and many events in between.

Ms. Heller received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
