Statistical Analyst

Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual to join our Quality Control Team. The Institute's Quality Control Team ensures the transparency and replicability of its research products by thoroughly reviewing the accuracy of their data, verifying methodologies, and replicating findings. This process enables other researchers to easily reproduce, verify, and build upon our statistical results. Collectively, the Quality Control Team is responsible for maintaining the Institute’s reputation for high quality, accurate, and transparent analysis.
Work Location
This role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, with a blend of onsite work at our Washington, DC office and remote work for a minimum of two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assure the accuracy and replicability of analytic research products published by the Institute.
- Advise research staff on statistical standards, data sources, and econometric/data management techniques.
- Raise awareness of terms of use of data and copyright obligations and assist researchers to ensure external compliance with data providers.
- Assist with the training and onboarding of new research staff and Quality Control Team members.
Qualifications/Preferred Qualifications
either:
- A master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, or related fields such as Public Policy with a focus on Econometrics/Statistics.
- Or bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline such as Physics/Actuarial studies.
- At least one year of experience in data management, data quality control/assurance, and/or data analytics.
Or:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
- At least two years of experience in data management, quality control/assurance, and/or data analytics.
Preference for candidates with work experience in a central bank, international financial institution (e.g., IMF, World Bank, regional development bank).
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in computer software and data management tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Stata.
- Limited working proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy, etc.) and/or R.
- Ability to communicate data replication standards verbally and electronically with research staff.
- Preference for candidates familiar with EViews, MATLAB/Octave, VBA, Bloomberg, and/or Macrobond.
