
Persistent inflation, banking turmoil cloud global economic outlook
In PIIE's semiannual global economic prospects, Karen Dynan forecasts global GDP growth of 2.9 percent in 2023 and 3.1 percent in 2024, but major economies remain sluggish as the Federal Reserve and other central banks are expected to maintain tight economic conditions. Inflation has peaked in most economies but will remain elevated, and further turmoil in the banking sector looms over future growth.
